Ingredients

  • 4 bun-length hot dogs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika

    • 1/4 cup hot frying oil

      For Serving:

      • 4 hot dog buns
      • 1 cup coleslaw
      • 4 pickle spears

         

        Instructions

        A stainless steel pan filled with bubbling hot oil, with a thermometer clipped to the side to monitor the temperature. The oil is actively frying food, creating a golden-brown crust.
        1. Prepare the Coating: a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.
        2. Coat the Hot Dogs: Pat the hot dogs dry with paper towels. Dip each hot dog into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally back into the flour mixture for a second coating. This double coating ensures a perfectly crispy texture.
        3. Fry the Hot Dogs: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the coated hot dogs until they’re golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes. Remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels or.
        4. Make the Nashville Hot Oil: In a heatproof bowl, combine cayenne pepper, paprika, Frank's hot sauceblack pepper, salt, garlic powder, and brown sugar (if using). Stir in 1 tablespoon of Zindrew Crunchy Garlic Chili Oil for a punch of flavor and texture. Carefully ladle 1/4 cup of the hot frying oil into the spice mixture and stir until smooth.
